Children's Mission Projects

Our children give continuous support to local missions!

On November 4, 2012, 20 families from First & Calvary delivered 370.4 pounds of non-perishable food, hygiene items, and used books to Well of Life, an emergency food pantry run by Center City Christian Outreach. Children ages 2-12 helped to weigh 54 different bags, boxes, and baskets of items, and then take the items and help stock the shelves at the Well of Life. The trip to was the culmination of a two month project where children brought offerings for the Well of Life to their Sunday School classes.

Beginning February 17, 2013, the children were invited to participate in giving to One Great Hour of Sharing and/or Well of Life Emergency Food Pantry throughout Lent using a giving calendar. These offerings were collected on Palm Sunday in the preschool and elementary Sunday School classes. Families enjoyed a pizza lunch followed by a trip to Well of Life to deliver donated items.

During the month of April 2013, the First & Calvary members donated canned goods for the Crosslines Food Challenge. The project concluded with a lively CAN-struction on April 28 in the atrium. Sunday School Classes from pre- school through fifth grade joined the fun. Each child that participated received a blue ribbon from our honorary guests Neil and Juanita Cannon who have served as our fish day organizers for twenty two years. First & Calvary successfully collected 2496 pounds of food, that's over a ton, we also collected $1587.00 in cash donations for Crosslines.
For I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave me drink;
a stranger and you welcomed me; naked and you clothed me,
ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.
Matthew 25:35-36
