WHAT IS THE FAITH & THE ARTS ACADEMY?
This is a summer program for children that nurtures the beauty of the arts and the joy of the Christian faith.
WHO IS THIS PROGRAM FOR?
Our main program is for children ages 8-12. We also have a Budding Artists track for children ages 3-7 who are children of First and Calvary Covenant Partners or regular attendees of First & Calvary. The Budding Artists registration can be accessed through the weekly family emails or by contacting a.davidson@firstandcalvary.org.
TYPICAL DAY'S SCHEDULE

Opening Rally with a Bible lesson, characters, music, and prayer

Track A: Children take a class like praise dance, drumming, acrylic painting, and more! They will be in this class throughout the week.

July 6-10 from 9am-12:15pm

The final day, July 10, is showcase day! Children may be dropped off like every other day, but parents are also welcome to stay (more details to come).

Children are also invited back Sunday, July 12 to sing one of our worship songs in worship and pick up art displayed at our gallery.
WHAT ARE THE ART TRACK OPTIONS?*

Mixed Media: Create a wall-hanging cross by painting wooden tiles with brushes and simple printmaking techniques, then assembling them into a beautiful finished design.

Acrylic Painting: Paint your own vibrant "Tree of Life" on canvas while learning foundational acrylic painting techniques.

Picture Books: Write and illustrate your own picture book, complete with a title page, endpapers, dedication page, story, and finished artwork.

Musical Theatre: Rehearse an ensemble musical number with singing and choreography to perform for the Academy during Friday’s exhibition.

Praise Dance: Explore liturgical dance and worship through movement as you learn and rehearse a worship dance to share at Friday’s exhibition.

Drumming: Learn percussion techniques and ensemble skills on a variety of drums and instruments, then perform a worship piece at Friday’s exhibition.

Basket Weaving: Learn the traditional art of pine needle basket weaving and create a small basket using natural materials.

Dyeing and Weaving: Dye your own fabric and use a loom to create small woven pieces like a coaster or potholder, plus contribute to a communal class weaving.
