Formed in 2009, KC Baroque has become one of Kansas City’s musical treasures, specializing in historically informed performance on period instruments. Known for their artistry and innovation, they have premiered new works for early instruments, partnered with renowned ensembles, and shared music widely through education and free community concerts.
This performance will feature:
-
Trilla Ray-Carter, founder and director of KC Baroque, acclaimed cellist and educator with international festival experience.
-
Nicholas Good, harpsichordist, continuo player, and organist, with performances across the U.S. and Europe and a DMA from the University of Kansas.
-
Dr. David Hays, baroque violinist, Missouri State University professor, and Springfield Symphony concertmaster, with an extensive career as soloist and chamber musician.

Single Service Sunday: Celebrating 95 Years In the Heart of Springfield
On Sunday, October 5th, we will gather for a special Single Service Sunday to celebrate the 95th Birthday of First & Calvary! Worship will begin at 9:45 a.m. in the Sanctuary, followed by a church-wide birthday party.
The celebration will include fun activities for all ages—swag giveaways, prizes, trivia, a scavenger hunt, history displays, and more. This will be a wonderful opportunity to honor our past, celebrate our present, and look ahead to the future God has for our church family.
If you have been attending First and Calvary and interested in getting more involved, we welcome you to attend this lunch conversation. Pastors Don and Jamie will share about our church, possible next steps, and how to become a Covenant Partner. Please RSVP by Oct. 5 using this online form (click the graphic above). Childcare is available if needed by RSVP through this form. If you change your mind on attending, please let Amelia Davidson know at a.davidson@firstandcalvary.org

Fall Pastor's Book Club
Join with Pastor Don and others in reading Tish Harrison Warren’s Liturgy of the Ordinary: sacred practices in everyday life. At 153 pages, this shorter read is big on beautiful insights into how to grow as disciples in the midst of our everyday lives. Pick up a copy and enjoy the book, and join in on a discussion of the book on Thursday November 13th at 6PM in the library.
“This book will brush the dust from your dingy days and reveal the extraordinary that is to be found in the ordinary. No mundane task will be the same once these pages open your eyes to how the work of your hands reflects the ways of the Creator and the rhythms of eternity.” -Karen Swallow Prior
